Contant Reflections,
Video Performance, 2014

The formation of the self is cultivated by the negotiation of what is visible and what is invisible. The need to be mirrored and the ongoing necessity of reflection are crucial for preserving and constructing an internal dialogue that affirms the various identities that constitute the self. This introspective dialogue conveys an idea of internal conflict through the physical self and serves as a bridge between the visible and the invisible.

Constant Reflections is a performative video installation that reflects an internal rhythm. The rhythm of our self is visible through a physical presence with others. This essential experience forms the structure for human interactions and likeness. The physical presence of an other acts as an internal mirror: a person projecting onto another is sanctuary to the feelings of connectedness. Through empathy, we can introspectively integrate another person’s experience into our own. This reflectiveness of the self is the most integral notion of association and responsibility we have to one another, and for one another. Mirroring and reflecting create a rhythm for a song that we all dance to. This rhythm is not always heard or seen, but is in the experience of our presence.
